Smoke Testing
Smoke Testing in Montgomery
A smoke test after every sweep to check the flue's drawing properly and catch problems you can't see.
Every sweep I do finishes with a smoke test. It's the quickest way to tell whether the flue is drawing as it should, and it often picks up a problem that wouldn't be obvious just from looking up the chimney.
If the smoke test throws up anything unusual, that's when the camera kit comes out to pinpoint exactly where the issue is, so you're not guessing at what needs fixing.
What's included
- Carried out after every sweep
- Checks the flue is drawing correctly
- Flags blockages or leaks
- Followed up with camera work if needed
- Included as standard, not an extra

Outstanding service. Arrived on the dot. Very systematic in sweeping chimney. Made a complete seal with sheet plastic so no dust got into the room. Has great kit..rods attached to a drill so it’s a thorough sweep. Pulled the inside of log burner apart and cleaned component pieces. Reassembled in the correct way..mine was incorrect. Smoke tested at the end which identified a problem. Came back in to put camera kit up to chimney pot to identify the problem, showed me photos and resolved it. Very knowledgable and interesting man. Even polished log burner with some magic fluid that makes it look like new. It’s unrecognisable now..a major transformation and I can really tell it’s working efficiently now it’s been lit. Totally worth every penny. Left the place cleaner than when he arrived! Don’t trust anyone else with such an important job.
Kevin sweeps chimneys for several people in our village and also at my home. When I purchased a new property there was a problem identifying whether the wood burner was safe and chimney swept, despite him being out of the area, he was on hand to give advice and suggested who to go to. Long overdue review but I can thoroughly recommend Kevin, and will keep using his services, he's very professional and I trust his advice!!
Kevin did a fantastic job cleaning my log burner. I came in to find my fire looking cleaner than I left it and not a trace that he had been to clean. 100% recommend Kevin. Does an excellent job. Very trustworthy. Thank you Kevin.
