FAQs
Common questions
What happens when you come to sweep my chimney?
I seal the fireplace area with sheet plastic so no dust gets into your room, then carry out a full, systematic sweep using rods. I'll also check your log burner, and finish with a smoke test to make sure the flue is drawing properly.
How much does a chimney sweep visit cost?
Every job is straightforward to quote over the phone or on the day - just give me a call and I'll let you know what's involved before I start.
Are you insured?
Yes, I'm fully insured for the work I carry out.
How long does a chimney sweep take?
A typical sweep and log burner service takes a couple of hours, depending on the condition of the chimney and burner. I won't rush it - the aim is to do the job properly.
How do you know if there's a real problem with my chimney or burner?
I don't just sweep and leave. Every visit includes a smoke test, and if that flags anything unusual I'll put a camera up the chimney to see exactly what's happening, then show you the photos and explain what needs doing.
What areas do you cover?
I cover Montgomery and the surrounding villages and towns, including Newtown, Welshpool, Church Stretton and Bishop's Castle. Get in touch if you're not sure whether you're in range.
